If you're searching for the perfect mix of upscale luxury, family-friendly fun, and just enough grown-up relaxation, let me introduce you to your next dream vacation: SLS Playa Mujeres.
We recently spent a few unforgettable days in April, at this brand-new all-inclusive resort, and I’m already plotting our return. Nestled within a gated community on a marina just north of Cancun, the SLS Playa Mujeres blends modern luxury with the tranquility of its stunning oceanfront location.
First Impressions: Stylish and Secure
As soon as we entered the gated property, the tone was set: private, peaceful, and pristine. The resort is sleek and contemporary, but still very warm and welcoming. Staff greeted us with signature SLS hospitality—professional yet friendly—and check-in was quick and seamless. We were taken to the check in area and welcomed with cocktails.
Delight Rooms
One of the things that really stood out during our stay was the thoughtful room design—especially for families. Whether you’re traveling with toddlers, teens, or grandparents, the Delight Room options offer just the right mix of space, comfort, and modern flair.
We booked the Delight King room with queen sofa bed, and this was the perfect fit for us as a family with young child. The king-size bed is plush and luxurious, while the queen sofa bed pulls out easily.
Highlights:
King bed + queen-size pull-out sofa (great for 1–2 small kids)
Modern bathroom with rainfall shower
Smart TV, stocked minibar, and blackout curtains for peaceful naps
Chic, minimal decor with a fresh, beachy vibe
Family Fun Meets High Style
One of the biggest draws for us? SLS Playa Mujeres is family-friendly without compromising on style. The vibe is sophisticated, but it doesn’t feel stuffy—kids are clearly welcome and catered to.
The main family pool is vibrant, with plenty of loungers, umbrellas, and poolside service (hello, tropical mocktails and cocktails!). But the real star for families? The on-site water park. Our kids could have stayed there all day—and honestly, so could we. Think water slides, splash zones, and endless giggles. The evening show did start a bit late, but the kids danced the night away before playing games with the staff and watching some really cool acrobatic and cultural shows.
Adults-Only Escape
Parents, don't worry—you’re not forgotten. The adults-only section is beautifully tucked away for some much-needed downtime. Whether it’s lounging at the quiet pool, sipping something bubbly at the chic bar, or enjoying a couple’s massage at the spa, there's plenty of opportunity to relax and recharge while the kids play. And let's not forget the kid's club. They will even serve the kids lunch, and take them to do face painting, water balloon fights and pinatas at the pool.
I was able to take advantage of the Ciel Spa, which is a luxurious sanctuary designed to provide guests with an unparalleled wellness experience. Spanning over 20,000 square feet, the spa offers a comprehensive range of facilities and treatments aimed at relaxation and rejuvenation.
🌿 Spa Facilities
Thermal Baths: Experience the therapeutic benefits of hydrotherapy in the spa's state-of-the-art thermal baths.
Outdoor Tranquility Pool: Unwind in a serene outdoor setting, perfect for relaxation before or after treatments.
20 Treatment Rooms: A variety of private rooms are available for personalized spa services, ensuring comfort and privacy.
Fitness and Wellness Center: Equipped with the latest in movement and fitness facilities, guests can maintain their wellness routines during their stay. I am not one for working out, but the classes that this hotel offers is out of this world. They even have a juice bar with protein and creatine add ins at no extra cost.
Dining & Drinks
The food? Fantastic. We sampled everything from fresh seafood, steak and hibachi, to gourmet Mediterranean cuisine. There are multiple restaurants and bars, all included, with kid-friendly options and refined plates alike. The service was a little slow because it is still a new property, but was overall great. Here is an overview of some of our favorite restaurants:
Fi’lia: An Italian restaurant that celebrates traditional recipes with a Mediterranean influence.
Cleo: Offers a sophisticated menu combining Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors, focusing on shared plates.
Union: A casual New York-style steakhouse known for its authentic meats and hearty vegetables, set in a vibrant atmosphere. This was one of our favorites.
💡 Final Thoughts
The SLS Playa Mujeres feels like a luxury resort that just so happens to also be ideal for families. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a beautiful blend of relaxation, amazing food, and fun, all in a secure, stunning setting.
If you’re looking for your next family vacation spot that caters to both kids and adults—without sacrificing style—add this resort to your list. You won’t regret it.
Tips Before You Go:
Take a look at the restaurant menus so you can book right away once you check in. This was the biggest negative, but the Sales manager said they are working on fixing this
Take advantage of the marina area for sunset views at the Golden Hour Bar
If you’re traveling without kids, there is an adults only section
